Doorways in Drumorty is a new play by Aberdeen playwright Mike Gibb (Mother of All the Peoples, Five Pound & Twa Bairns, Clarinda,, Lest We Forget) based on a book of short stories by Lorna Moon, the lass from Strichen who became a top screenwriter in Hollywood.
The play interweaves several of these stories, alternatively amusing and poignant, into a work that is warm, charming and humorous and that captures the mood of the rural North East in the 1920’s, an era when the chief currency was gossip.
The inaugural production, directed by Fraser Sivewright, will be staged by RedRag Theatre Company, the Aberdeen based theatre group that toured the Piper Alpha commemorative play, Lest We Forget, in 2009.
The premier production of Doorways in Drumorty will be at the Lemon Tree Studio Theatre on Thursday 14th October 2010.
What the press said:
‘Doorways in Drumorty’ is a genuine good laugh, filled with jokes and amusing observations of people who will go to any lengths in order to get some tasty tittle tattle. The audience was roaring at the only too true presentation of a place where folk are “only the talk of the town until something mair interesting comes alang”.
Jennifer Cosgrove, The Courier
